Dry Filler
Kaolin adds opacity, has a lightening effect with all but the lightest colors, increases absorbency, thickens and has binding power. Can be mixed with binder in a low load to make sculptable air dry clay, and is good for making pastels with dispersion or clayboard type grounds. Dry fill can be mixed in to any binder, or sprinkled on top of any binder while still wet to make paint. Make a swatch to test high dry fill loads (40% or more) to make sure that your paint has the flexibility and adhesion your job requires. Dry fill and acrylic may be used with thickener #1 or thickener #2 for sculptural texture pastes.
